By Guest Author - Lisa Stuhr, Sierra Moms Director of Community Relations March 2, 2017

Join Sierra Moms and Kids Camp of El Dorado Hills in supporting the March of Dimes' quest to end premature birth in the United States. They're hosting "Bounce for Babies" on Tuesday, March 14, during which 50 percent of your $7 admission fee will go directly to March for Babies Sacramento. Kids Camp of EDH will host two bounce times - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. - you and your children are encouraged to attend the time that works best for you!

Need a little refresher on the March of Dimes?  For those of us born in the United States in the last 75 years, we all share something special in common - we are all March of Dimes babies!  In 1938 President Franklin Roosevelt, a polio survivor himself, established the March of Dimes to help eliminate the disease. He called upon the American public to give whatever they could to help fund a cure, even if it was just a dime. On March 23, 1953, March of Dimes funded researcher Jonas Salk announced that a vaccine had been developed, allowing for the elimination of polio.

With their goal of ending polio achieved, the March of Dimes created a new goal, preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Research backed by the organization has led to many breakthroughs including treatments for respiratory problems in newborns, innovations that took the first step towards mapping the human genome, 15 nobel prizes, and much more. Today, the March of Dimes is fighting relentlessly to end premature birth as 500,000 babies are born in the United States each year - many of which do not survive. Your donations fund the research that makes that hope a reality.

We hope you will join Sierra Moms and Kids Camp of El Dorado Hills at Bounce for Babies on Tuesday, March 14 at 5037 Robert J Mathews Parkway from

10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and/or 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Together we can make a difference and help the most helpless.
