Joe and Diane Benevento moved from New Jersey to San Jose in 1978. With them, they brought the original pizza recipes that New Yorkers love so much. In 1999, they opened their first pizzeria in Sunnyvale, which they operated until 2003.
Wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the bay area, they packed up and moved to Folsom. A short time later, the husband and wife team opened Pronto’s New York Pizzeria. The quaint restaurant, located next to the Century Theaters, and across the street from the Folsom Outlet Stores is the perfect spot for a delicious meal before or after a movie or shopping.
"This is the real deal," says Diane Benevento. "We inherited the family recipes passed down from generation to generation."
So, what makes New York style pizza so unique? It has a thin, wheat crust that’s slightly crispy for a delicious contrast to the rich, mozzarella that bubbles atop a tart tomato sauce, spiced with basil and oregano. The pizza comes in all traditional sizes and by the slice. A 12" gluten-free crust option is available.
"Pizza is our signature dish, but we also serve a variety of tasty Italian meals made from scratch," Benevento adds. "We even make our own bread!"
The menu includes standards such as baked ziti, cheese ravioli, spaghetti with meatballs, Parmigiana chicken or eggplant, and lasagna. All dinners come with a small green salad and house-made crusty bread.
If you're in the mood for lighter fare, the cold sandwiches, are packed with crispy lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayonnaise, and Italian dressing on a homemade roll. The meatball and parmigiana sandwiches are sauced and bursting with flavor.
Pronto's is the perfect place for family gatherings, dinner for two, or a meal on the go. The prices are affordable, and the food is fabulous!
