Folsom is a wonderful city to raise kids and is very family friendly. However, life can feel a little isolated and lonely as a working mom. As a Phoenix transplant, I found that there aren’t many meetup groups for full-time working moms (that work during the day) to socialize. Most mom groups gather during the day time on weekdays. The only available days that I, like many other working moms, have to socialize with other families are weekends.
To fill a perceived need, I decided to create a Folsom working moms meet up group where working moms can get together once to twice a month on weekends focused around either kid or mom focused activities. This group is open to all moms living in the Folsom/El Dorado Hills area who want to make long lasting friendships, meet with likeminded moms, and join on kid focused activities.
Active participation in creating and hosting events is highly encouraged. All members are welcome to add events to the calendar that they consider beneficial to the group. This ensures a variety in activities that match everyone's interests.
There is no pressure to attend all events as we all know life is very busy. The only requirement to remain an active member within the group is to attend at least 1 event every 4 months.
This group was first formed in Jan 2017 and has quickly grown to 40 members! About the Author/Mom who started the Folsom Working Moms meetup – Jyotsna (Jyo) is a busy mom to 2, a full-time Electrical Engineer working in the building consulting industry during the weekdays. On weekends, she puts on her creative hat while managing her independent part-time photography business. As an Engineer, she loves to see designs on paper come to life via buildings.
