Disney On Ice, 100 years of Magic |
Last Night was the opening show for Disney on Ice here in Sacramento. Let me preface this review with our family loves Disney!
It's been years since we have taken our oldest to Disney on Ice, and it still didn't disappoint. With over 30 different songs for us to sing and clap along with it, there was definitely a song for everyone. Songs included Pixar's Finding Dory, Disney's The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, Frozen and more. Plus so many little princesses and characters dressed up with their parents in the arena.
- We started the day with a sick toddler so we were unable to attend a special meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie Mouse. We just won't mention to my girls that they missed meeting Mickey.
- Parking is well thought out with the construction of Golden 1 Center. You can prepay with your tickets to park in specific garages or other local garages range from $15-$30, utilizing credit or debit card. Let me just say that chaotic feeling of everyone leaving the parking lot at the same time wasn't there. Having different garages around the area allows them not to be packed to the brim and the mad dash to leave.
- The show, we are never disappointed by Mickey and the gang. They always bring so much joy to our kids.
- Sophia (Macaroni Kid Coloring Contest Winner) when asked what her favorite part was, paused for a moment and with a delighted look said, "Everything."
- Jillian (5) stated her favorite part was the all the songs. Mulan is the one she loved most.
- Hadley (7) said her favorite was all the skating and when Aladdin and Jasmine skated.
- Caylee (8) stated her favorite was when all the Prince and Princesses came and skated. I might add, all the lifts during that act were incredible. So much energy and excitement from the audience.
- My Husband chose Rafiki and The Lion King as his favorite part of the show.
- I can never get enough of Olaf, and his song In Summer, Although watching the duets dances, makes me excited for ice skating rinks to start opening for the season.
- Incorporating acts that different generations grew up with, brings back those magical feelings from our own childhoods. You start tapping your toes, clapping along and even singing along with the characters.
- The lighting was great, during the end of each act for a set change it did get dark, but only for a moment. The sound is what you might expect, there are occasional blasts that add to the excitement. One child next to me had her hands close to her ears while others did not. So if you have a child sensitive to sound. Be prepared. The set, I would expect nothing less of a Disney Production. So much enthusiasm as each new castle appeared. The costumes were amazing, my girls always love Elsa's transformation.
- So many options for food and snack, I would definitely grab those before you get to your seats. The intermission lines, are much to be expected.
- I expected the Arena to be cold as it's an on-ice show. We had light sweaters with us, but even my 5-year-old removed hers.
All in all, we had a great time and there are still plenty of shows for you and your family to attend this weekend.
