5 Things Not to Miss at Knott's Berry Farm This Summer!

By Marisela Morales, Macaroni Kid Folsom - El Dorado Hills publisher July 9, 2019

One of my fondest memories growing up is going to the amusement park with my family and friends.  While the kids jumped on the roller coasters, spinning cups, and bumper cars, my mom sat eating and guarding churros, sodas, and hot dogs.  It was wonderful!

Coincidentally, my husband has similarly fond memories involving amusement parks so we have decided to pass that joy on to our kids.  We kicked off our summer this year by visiting Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA.  We usually just go to the park for one day when we visit, so each time we focus on a different part of the park and discover something new (to us).  But there are things you definitely don't want to miss, here are our top 5!

5 Things Not to Miss at Knott's Berry Farm This Summer

1.  Camp Snoopy - If you have little ones, you definitely don't want to miss Camp Snoopy.  This section of the park has all the kiddie rides, some being smaller versions of the larger rides.  Kids 8 and younger will definitely enjoy some thrills on these.  You will find some family favorites which include:  the Grand Sierra Railroad, Rocky Mountain Trucking Company, and the Timberline Twister.  You can also sit and enjoy watching Snoopy and the Peanut Gang put on a fun show.

2.  Newest Rides - If you are limited on time, make sure to fit in at least these newest rides.  Take turns amongst the grown-ups if you have to!  Calico River Rapids  is the updated white water raft ride.  It has gone through major renovations and has new features including new animatronics, themed show scenes, new story overlay and new water effects.  Height requirement is 46 inches.  The other newest and high thrill ride is Hang Time, California's first and only dive coaster.  It boasts the steepest vertical drop in California with mid air suspensions.  You can find this ride in the Boardwalk and the height requirement is 48 inches.

3.  Ghost Town Alive -  Make sure to visit the Ghost Town because it is coming alive through September 2nd.  Daily Now – Aug. 11, Weekends Aug. 17 – Sept. 1, Plus Sept. 2 to be exact.  You will find bandits, cowboys, robbers, and much more.  Join in on an evening Hoedown with the family!  Park guests get to participate in the Ghost Town story as well.  There are several fun shows you won't want to miss in Knott's Berry Farm's Wild West:  Native American Dancer, Calico Saloon Show, Wild West Stunt Show, and Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies.  We really enjoyed all the cultural history shared by the Native American Dancer and the dance demonstrations.

4.  Knott's Summer Nights - Through August 11th, Knott's midway will liven up at night with music by live bands, a DJ, family games, photo op opportunities, and special summer foods.

5.  Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant - After a long day of enjoying fun rides, we are usually famished.  We want to relax and enjoy a wholesome dinner.  This restaurant has become our favorite place to eat at Knott's Berry Farm to the point that we treat dinner there as our end of the day reward.  It offers a delicious full dinner for an excellent price in a comfy family restaurant that will make you feel like you're eating in your dining room at home.

Knott's Berry Farm is truly a personal family favorite.  We are enjoying this family tradition knowing that as our kids grow, there will be something for all of us to enjoy there together for years to come.

Disclosure:  We received complimentary tickets for our family to visit in exchange for us to share our honest thoughts about the amusement park.  All opinions are sincere and our own.
