Make Lunchtime Easy as 1-2-3 With Kraft Heinz Lunches

It’s back-to-school time and most kiddos in California will be learning from home at least half of the day. As a home-schooler, I understand the challenge of handling the extra meals and accompanying messes that come with the extra hours that kids are home. At my house, “Mama, can I eat … ?” is screamed hourly, making me go bonkers. But I’ve found a solution!

I love that Walmart carries yummy Kraft Heinz lunch options that are kid-friendly. Best of all, they are easy as 1-2-3 to prepare. This allows my 5- and 9-year-old kids to serve themselves! Loading up on lunch options like Bagel Bites, Lunchables, Jell-O cups, Easy Mac, Capri Sun, and Ore-Ida Fries for back-to-school empowers my kids to make their own lunch and takes an item off of my daily to-do list.

My kids are really enjoying prepping meals these days. It has made them more open to trying new foods and veggies. This week, my daughter had a blast making veggie-filled turkey and cheese pinwheels using Kraft Singles American cheese. My son was so proud of toasting his own Bagel Bites; it melted my heart. Have the kids add some fruit and/or veggies and they have a complete meal to keep their little brains powered for learning.

There is definitely some simple kitchen safety training that needs to happen.  Let’s not forget reviewing hygiene rules, too.  But that’s the first session of Home Economics 101, with an occasional check-in to make sure the kids are handling foods and appliances safely. Kids learn that electricity makes the toaster oven work, that the toaster oven heats food and requires safety mitts to handle it when on. They also learn that hot food needs to cool down a bit before you eat it. They practice handling food preparation with clean hands, too!

When eating regular meals, my kids are the type to wiggle their way off their seats to go play as soon as I turn away. That can’t be happening three times a day with all the schooling they need to do. But when they prepare their own Kraft Heinz lunches, they are much more inclined to dive into their food and focus on eating. They also enjoy it more and are hungry for more, keeping them full until the next meal!

Kraft Heinz kid-friendly foods make lunchtime exciting.  My daughter is already making her grocery list for the next time we visit Walmart.  While eating Bagel Bites, my son yelled, “These bagel pizzas are delicious, I’m saving some for daddy!”  They were even excited to share with each other.

But for some reason, they weren’t so excited to share with me.  Hahaha!

Did you know it takes 23 minutes and 15 seconds to get back to task after a distraction? That’s why enabling our children with the life skill of making their own lunch #1, 2, or 3 (because kids get extra hungry at home) is more than a gift of independence for them. It reduces interruptions. This helps increase a parents’ work efficiency, whether that work is professional, centered on home activities, or is teaching them. Fewer distractions mean a less frustrated, less stressed, and more productive parent. It’s a win, win!

Do yourself a favor and grab your kids’ favorite Kraft Heinz lunches at Walmart in preparation for back-to-school season. Lunch happens every day. You might as well take the stress out of planning lunch and make it a teachable moment.
