The Cottonwood School (TCS) is a tuition-free, Montessori-inspired public high school in El Dorado Hills.
TCS gives students at the secondary level those experiences through robust, hands-on project-based learning programs, as well as extracurricular activities which include field trips and field work. We also look at the individual child and personalize his/her learning experience in a collaborative environment. With a 25:1 student to teacher ratio, there are more opportunities for greater interaction between staff and students during class time. By the time students graduate from TCS, students can easily transition into the college life or career they are passionate about.
A blend of Montessori and Project-Based Learning (PBL) is at the heart of Cottonwood’s educational pedagogy. The teaching is grounded in Montessori foundations, principles, and experiences. We believe all students have the ability to learn, utilizing various learning modalities, and achieve their academic and personal goals through relevant experiences. We value each student’s cultural and personal values, and strive to engage students in practical and relevant real life learning, inside and outside the classroom, as well as locally and globally.
We serve students within El Dorado Hills, Shingle Springs, White Rock, Clarksville, and the surrounding communities.
