2021 SUMMER ART CAMPS (ART BEAST CHILDREN'S ART STUDIO)
Session Times: 9 am to 4 pm. The camp day will offer both directed activities and free play. For parents needing extended care, we will offer an option of an extended day ending at 5:30 pm.
Pricing:
- $325 for each camp
- $100 non-refundable deposit to reserve a spot
- Additional siblings enrolled the same week receive a 10% discount.
Please Bring: Lunch, snack, and a bottle of water. Wear clothes that can get messy! Those attending aftercare, please provide your child an additional snack.

Art Beast camps are designed for school age children 5 to 8 years old. We create a space that honors children by offering activities and environments suited to their age range. No trying to keep up with the 12 year olds at this camp! Each session fills at 25 children and is led by two teachers, promising a group that can grow close. There will also be two to four, 12-17 year old Junior Coaches per camp that receive leadership orientations and training. The camps offer a blend of structured arts exploration in the classroom and free play within the building, always under close supervision by the camp teachers.
Unlike past years, the only children in the building will be the children attending camp.
Our camps are about exploring art and self-expression. Children dig into an array of mediums and arts in their own way. No matter the theme, we promise arts integration with movement, song, story, and art. After or before camp each day, you can stay and play at Art Beast with your child as long as you’d like. Each week children will have the opportunity to create a unique themed t-shirt and a weekly journal of their experience.
And, as always, when you choose Art Beast, your money supports Waking the Village’s communities for young, homeless parents and their children at Tubman House, Audre’s Emporium of New Tomorrows and more.
WHAT ABOUT COVID MITIGATION?
We are big believers that mitigation WORKS! Our nonprofit has been operating preschools, school age programs, and congregate living programs throughout the pandemic and we take very seriously the work of keeping our clients safe. We work to instill in our team and in our communities a desire to take care of one another by abiding safe practice. To date, we have not had Covid spread through any of our programs thanks to this commitment.
This is what it looks like at Art Beast:
- Our teachers and camp aides are vaccinated against Covid19.
- The only people allowed in the building are the teachers and the children. Pickups happen outside.
- Everybody wears a well fitted, proper mask unless eating or drinking.
- When eating, children are outside and distanced.
- Windows and rear doors are opened to improve ventilation.
- Air purifiers run throughout the day.
- Handwashing and sanitizing is frequent.
- Deep cleaning happens at the end of the day.
- The total number of people in the building at a time in limited to allow for safe distancing.
JUNIOR COACHES - CAMP LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Junior Coaches are teenagers and in-betweeners aged 12-17 who wish to gain experience in leadership, working with children, and providing a welcoming, enjoyable environment for our summer campers. Junior Coaches commit to 25-35 hours within one week, and help teachers guide crafts, free-play, and help tidy our art areas. A leadership training sessions is required before participating with camps.
Four spots are available in each camp. Positions become available at the same time as camp. Committing to multiple weeks is possible depending on availability. There is a fee of $75 per camp for each Junior Coach to cover the orientations, trainings, and supervision during week of volunteering and to ensure commitments are honored. (Parents this is also a pretty awesome break for you!)
